Cowboy Troy Goes West(ern) With “King of Clubs”

NEW ALBUM FEATURES SONG TO HONOR SATURDAYS SPENT WITH MOM.

You may not realize it the first time you listen to Cowboy Troy’s new album, King of Clubs. You may not even get it the second time, but pay close attention to the song “Giddy-Up.” It’s a definite play on the theme song of the classic Western TV series Rawhide. And as much as the song is a party anthem, it also has a sweet personal meaning to Troy.

“The reason why we used that particular melody was because it brought back memories of really good times watching Westerns with my mother,” he tells Country Weekly. “Growing up in Texas, we would start out the weekend watching The Lone Ranger at one, The Rifleman at two, Bonanza at three, Rawhide at four, and then at five it was Alias Smith and Jones. My mother is who got me into watching Westerns and we would watch those all afternoon. So, when I hear theRawhide music, it reminds me of good times sitting around watching TV with Mom.”
